About Us

Homemade for Hunger is a truly grassroots organization.  Founded only in 2007, this organization was created by a resident of North Minneapolis as a way to help families in need around the Twin Cities Area by putting on a number of fund-raising drives year-round.  Currently a home-based organization, Homemade for Hunger plans on as much growth and expansion as peoples' generosity will allow in the coming seasons.

The mission of Homemade for Hunger is a simple one: Year-round we work to create homemade items and sell them around locations in the Twin Cities area in front of businesses generous enough to allow us to set-up a small table for a day or two at a time.  With proceeds generated through these drives, we fund a variety of different programs and charities needing extra assistance around the Twin Cities, as well as programs designed and operated solely by Homemade for Hunger staff and volunteers.  All funding stays in the Twin Cities to assist those in need locally.

Our long-term goals would be to allow different Homemade for Hunger branches around the state of Minnesota - each to specifically look after its own community.  In the years to come, it is our organization's hope that we will be a strong enough force within the Twin Cities to catch the interest of other communities.  In doing so, we would be able to provide the tools and resources to allow caring contacts throughout Minnesota to provide for their own neighbors in the same fashion as the original branch in Minneapolis.

Homemade for Hunger is always looking for volunteers, sponsors, and good-will inspired people who are willing to put the word out about this new organization.  Homemade for Hunger does provide receipts for donations per request, so if you would like to make a donation, don't hesitate to ask for a receipt.  Otherwise, simply put the monetary value (if merchandise donation) into the package with your materials and a return address before sending or prior to its pick-up.

If you would like to get involved, but don't know how, see our Resources page.  We provide craft ideas as well as tutorials in case you would like to begin something new (such as crocheting or quilting) but don't know where to start to acquire the new skills.

Homemade for Hunger holds a great deal of pride in constantly striving to make the organization such that  "everybody wins."  We are out to help the people purchasing our merchandise by providing them with quality homemade goods and gifts, our organization's growth and development, the opportunity for volunteer work in a variety of different ways, charitable organizations around the Twin Cities that may need an extra hand from time to time, and most of all, our local community at large by assisting those in need.
